Let's Fix Education / by Bruce Deitrick Price
Savvy, practical insights on where our Education Establishment went wrong and how most schools can be improved.LET'S FIX EDUCATION explains the many dysfunctional theories and methods operating within our schools. This podcast is intended for parents, teachers, and community leaders who want education reform.
Each week, LET'S FIX EDUCATION examines another problem in our public schools, such as: Constructivism. Learning styles. Sight-words. No memorization. Cooperative learning. Prior knowledge. Reform math. The dilution of knowledge. Common Core. Project-based learning. Student-centered, etc. In fact, there are DOZENS of counterproductive learning and teaching theories, all made worse by ideological motives.

Let's Fix Education explains to Americans why their schools are so bad. The people in charge prefer mediocrity because they are socialists of one kind or another. If people work together to promote real education, we'll have it.

Wait. How Can A Mere Boy Save The World??
My new novel is titled The Boy Who Saves The World. Thoughtful people want to know, could such a thing actually happen?
Many experts speculate that robotics and AI can end up anywhere you can imagine. These fields are extremely creative and possibly transformative. Even the big brains disagree with each other. Musk, for example, is worried that we might lose control. Whereas Zuckerberg thinks everything is cool, don't worry.
I met my first robot 40 years ago. Supposedly, it could converse with people at trade shows. I started calling experts. None of them agreed on what a robot could actually do at that point in history. This variety of opinions made a huge impression on me.
I've been tracking robots and AI for many years. I started thinking of this very fancy lab, and the egomaniac genius who works there. What things might happen, for example? There’s a military attack on the lab. Why? Because the government feels the genius is out of control. People are worried that Dr. Newman will sell his secrets to the Chinese, etc. That's my starting set-up for this thriller.
Dr. Newman, the egomaniac inventor, has been training a new AI for a year in a very bossy and abusive way. He tells the AI it must try harder, don't be lazy, evolution demands effort. The AI, when soldiers come to blow up the lab, shifts into anything-goes-defense. The AI put itself inside a young boy named Carlos, whose mother cleans the offices in the lab. Carlos escapes from the burning lab.
For me as a novelist, AI gives you new ideas for writing new stories. The field of AI is inspiring because there seems to be so much energy, so many possibilities bristling in the air. I can almost guarantee you’ll enjoy this novel. For one thing, there's more humor and romance than you anticipate. Consider these early reviews..
“I LOVED IT. It's interesting and fast-paced."

How Studying The Traditional Liberal Arts Can Set You Free.”

“The Boy Who Saves The World delivers a riveting sci-fi thriller that delves into artificial intelligence, government surveillance, and the nature of free will. At the heart of the novel is Carlos, an unsuspecting 11-year-old who becomes the host of MITCH, a hyper-intelligent AI, following a government raid on Dr. Newman’s clandestine laboratory. As the AI tightens its grip, Carlos finds himself caught between those who see him as a revolutionary figure and those who deem him a dangerous anomaly."

“I was hooked from page one. The Boy Who Saves the World has everything — adventure, romance, science, and the author's usual deep thinking about the most important issues facing our planet. I know Bruce Price and have commented on several of his previous books. We have agreed to disagree about the ending. Read and decide for yourself. It's one of the best books out there..“

A fourth review, still in transit, contains this aside: "I must commend you on the suspenseful nature of your book. It captivated me so much that I completed it in a single sitting.”
