Let's Fix Education / by Bruce Deitrick Price
Savvy, practical insights on where our Education Establishment went wrong and how most schools can be improved.LET'S FIX EDUCATION explains the many dysfunctional theories and methods operating within our schools. This podcast is intended for parents, teachers, and community leaders who want education reform.
Each week, LET'S FIX EDUCATION examines another problem in our public schools, such as: Constructivism. Learning styles. Sight-words. No memorization. Cooperative learning. Prior knowledge. Reform math. The dilution of knowledge. Common Core. Project-based learning. Student-centered, etc. In fact, there are DOZENS of counterproductive learning and teaching theories, all made worse by ideological motives.

For more than 85 years the Education Establishment has relentlessly eliminated
the facts and knowledge that had always been considered appropriate
for early education.
Now is a good time to go back to what works.
Get rid of the stupid methods.
Return to essential knowledge.

Let's Fix Education explains to Americans why their schools are so bad. The people in charge prefer mediocrity because they are socialists of one kind or another. If people work together to promote real education, we'll have it.

Episode 130 --- Wed., Dec. 27, '23
Research Reveals How K-12 Was Intentionally Sabotaged
Ladies and gentlemen,
My education research was inspired by seeing so many obviously dysfunctional approaches used by so many millions of students.
Finally I could sum up my research in these few words: there are no good ideas left in K-12.
Soon thereafter I encountered Charlotte Iserbyt’s famous book: "The Deliberate Dumbing Down of America” (published 1999). And I reacted: “Yes! That's what I‘m trying to tell you.”
It was intentional. Deliberate. Systematic. There was nothing accidental or inadvertent. What happened in K-12 schools was a continuous attack by organized subversion.
Probably a lot of people accept this analysis. But even they do not realize that we are still only halfway through this dark mysterium. How is so much destruction caused? What are the techniques used to dumb down a school system and then a country??
Let's Fix Education is a unique podcast because it's not concerned with the optimistic platitudes so common in writings about education. It's focused on the brutal mechanics, the nasty nuts and bolts, the criminal causes and effects of the Left’s much-too-successful culture war.
Here's the unexpected generality that emerges if you study K-12 education for any time at all. The Education Establishment always wants to eliminate the methods that have been proven successful throughout decades and even centuries, for example, phonics and direct instruction. Teachers are then told to use the least efficient methods, for example, sight-words and constructivism. And woven through all of this second-rateness is a contempt for knowledge and academics generally.
If you look through Professor E. D. Hirsch’s Cultural Literacy, you’ll realize that our Education Establishment would reject every item: just factoids, our kids don't need to know that sort of trivia.
It turns out that whatever your students should know, they are discouraged from doing so.
Fair to say, my podcasts are not for the average citizen. They are for parents, teachers, and citizens who know that something dreadful is happening. They want to understand the decline so they can get involved with fixing it.
TAKE THE 3 CHALLENGE
There are now more than 130 episodes. There is no order; none of them go out of date because the Education Establishment prevents improvement in our schools. Write down three random numbers from 1 to 130. Listen to these three podcasts (or read the transcripts). You’ll know if these podcasts are the sort of information you need. You’ll know if you have friends who would appreciate them.
My modest goal is to save the country’s educational system. I can't do that if the public, the movers and shakers, the VIPs in our society can shut their ears and not hear anyone screaming. I want everyone to appreciate how inane and destructive our schools have become. A clown show that merits a cease and desist notice. Start screaming.
This episode is short so you'll be encouraged to look at three articles.
