Let's Fix Education / by Bruce Deitrick Price
Savvy, practical insights on where our Education Establishment went wrong and how most schools can be improved.LET'S FIX EDUCATION explains the many dysfunctional theories and methods operating within our schools. This podcast is intended for parents, teachers, and community leaders who want education reform.
Each week, LET'S FIX EDUCATION examines another problem in our public schools, such as: Constructivism. Learning styles. Sight-words. No memorization. Cooperative learning. Prior knowledge. Reform math. The dilution of knowledge. Common Core. Project-based learning. Student-centered, etc. In fact, there are DOZENS of counterproductive learning and teaching theories, all made worse by ideological motives.

K-12 REFORM BEGINS HERE
The ship of schools is sinking. Most of the theories and methods used in our public schools are destructive nonsense. The media won't tell you what's going on. But surely the signals emanating from our educational sector reveal intellectual and moral chaos. Let's start sincere reform now.
Episode 122 is available as podcast and transcript. There are a half-dozen important links in both. Please, everyone get more involved in knowing what ideologue professors are doing to the country. It's not pretty.

Let's Fix Education explains to Americans why their schools are so bad. The people in charge prefer mediocrity because they are socialists of one kind or another. If people work together to promote real education, we'll have it.

Good school?? Bad school?? ISN'T IT OBVIOUS?!
----------------------------------
In 2008 I created a three-minute video called Good School? Bad School? You know! It sketches the smart practices used by good schools and, conversely, the destructive methods we typically see in our inferior schools.
I'm very proud of this little gem. There is nothing else you could look at that would give you such an accurate sense of the toxic earthscape we now see in K-12.
Here are the nine very-bad, kill-now approaches: Fake reading. Fake math. Constructivism. No knowledge. No memorization. Group thinking. Phony self-esteem. Busy work. Chaos.
Because of these noxious items, statistics decline, students run away, teachers quit in great numbers, and nobody has anything good to say about K-12 except for the people who get paid to operate this cruise to the bottom.
We need to totally clean out the barn; that being a reference to Homer’s story about King Augeas, a rich man with innumerable horses, cows, and pigs, all sheltered in an immense barn. Cleaning this barn could take weeks but Hercules must do it in one night. The Augean stables turn up in medieval and modern literature whenever an image is needed to convey a vision of monumental BS. Finally, there's only one option, reroute a river through the joint.
In writing about education my emphasis was always on how we improve, reform, or fix the things that are particularly egregious. The Socialist/Communist educators, on the other hand, strive to destroy the traditional ways that always work, for example, phonics, basic arithmetic, geography, history, general science, et al. Today, genuine reformers could use any private school as a model or vote on the best European school as a model. But don’t keep anything now in schools because it's all garbage.
Most depressing is the unresponsiveness of our privileged and powerful. Where are millionaires fighting for better schools? Where are media explaining the reality of our decline? What about political leaders, business titans, what about the powerful names in Hollywood? Surely we have famous athletes who could talk about the contracts they couldn't read. I think lots of people who end up in Alcoholics Anonymous had a soul-wrecking experience in early grades and never recovered. We have 50 million functional illiterates. That's a lot of misery.
Everyone agrees the schools are sinking into sepsis. We need reform now, before the school system destroys the society that gave it birth.
So start your own reform movement or join mine. What's the admission fee? Take more interest in K-12. That’s all. Decide for yourself what's gone wrong and share your conclusions with others.
It's very difficult to find reliable information. I'm a good bet because I've posted thousands of articles, blogs, podcasts, books, answers, and comments on the Internet, all easily available, all consistent. Enter my name and the topic you're interested in. Something helpful will turn up. Discuss with friends.
Seriously, dumbed-down education such as ours is intellectually fascinating. You will enjoy learning the nitty-gritty of why so many kids can't count, read, or find Alaska on a map.

NEWS: Elon Musk said that George Soros has a Death Wish.
Which prompted my thought: "You know what has a death wish?
The whole K-12 system. Skills that students need.
Facts they would enjoy having. But no, we won't provide that."
