Episode 19:  Big Lies in K-12   (Nov. 3, 2021)

Public school are full of dishonesty and deception. Parents have to deal with this.  First, understand what's going on. Second, take steps to work around the problem.

Here's the background. The Education Establishment has concocted many ways of undermining K-12 education, typically by lying about what is possible or helpful. The simplest technique for dumbing down America is the most pervasive gimmick of all—don't try to teach very much. The professors are full of excuses and alibis: kids don't need to know certain information, they will never understand other information. In any case, teachers shouldn't teach anything directly, let the kids figure it out for themselves.

NB: in the second minute, Rudolf Flesch is mentioned. The first name may be unclear. He's the author of the most famous book in American education, Why Johnny Can't Read  (1955).
